This Christmas song was written especially for Julia Wade by Peter Link. It was, in fact, her idea to put these two texts together as one lyric . texts from the book of John in the Bible and from the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. The occasion is the Christmas day church services in Boston where Julia is soloist and performs it with harpist and keyboardist.

In a rather unprecedented move, Julia also decided to share the song with the world before its debut both as a recording and also make it available in digital sheet music for other soloists to sing as well if they so chose. It is an uplifting and joyous celebration of the birth of Jesus and captures the spirit of Christmas both in its music and lyrics.

And his name shall be called. Wonderful!

Here is a joyful, sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, and always musical exploration of the transition from this world to the next. Alabado sea Dios came about when Julia Wade and Peter Link were commissioned to record a Spanish inspirational CD as a result of Julia's continuing position as the Soloist for the Spanish services at The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston. There she performs an incredible array of latino sacred music with Latin jazz pianist Rafael Alcalá, as represented on this CD.

Every so often Julia is asked to put in a "guest appearance" on a CD. Ode To Joy was simply a joy for Julia. You will find her voice on two of the songs from this very beautiful, mostly instrumental CD from Peter Link. She sings with Peter Link and Margaret Dorn on an original song, "This I Know Is True," penned by Link. And on the title track, Julia sings the words of the great poet Samuel Longfellow. This CD is a feast of sound, heart, beauty and joy.

Peter Link writes of Ode To Joy, "This is not an album of songs, rather, a mostly instrumental series of impressions on the theme of joy. With each movement, I started with a loved melody from my life, stated it and then let the musings take it from there. Sometimes I even dropped the original theme after it had given me a start.

I mixed the musical styles of my life joyfully, not caring who I might offend, but just going with what I heard, drawing from the diverse musical styles of the latter part of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. My intention in the beginning was to create a purely instrumental album. That's not the way it worked out. Along the way I kept finding things I wanted to say, and so I said them, or sang them, or had my friends sing them.

The experience of making this CD was one of the best of my life. I am ever grateful for the technological tools at my disposal — my computer and its constantly expanding software. I am ever grateful for the flip side, my talent, my connection with the Source of creativity, with the God given light of joy in my life. It is this light, this joy that I sing about, in all its ramifications. It is my Ode To Joy."
